A slightly lighter G provides a more even string to string tension across the neck and makes bending easier.
A heavier E string makes for a tighter low end with increased mass for more volume in the lower register. The 0.110″ gauge also facilitates tuning down to a low ‘D’ without the string bottoming out or loss of intonation.
